Adus Dorsey, Leslie Crossland, Cory MacNulty, Zachary Bolick, Larry Lucas
Convener: Adus Dorsey, Phone: 435-691-0173, Email: , Title: Mayor of Torrey
Adus is the mayor of Torrey.
Larry is a recreation and trails planner for the Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
Leslie is the superintendent of Golden Spike National Historic Site.
Cory and Zach are with NPCA.
Adus has yet to hear anything from Capitol Reef about getting together for a meeting so that they're informed about what's happening in the Park. Many from the group encouraged Adus to reach out to them himself and see what their reaction is.
Cory and Zach are hoping to bring together the Gateway Forum design team with the CAT conveners so as to form a leadership team.
Cory and Zach are hoping to launch www.utahgatewaycommunity.org by the beginning of March. The website will include links to funding opportunities.
Where to Focus?
This team could help identify sources for funding and continuously update the website list. For example the rural fastrack grant from the state recently changed to include tourism businesses.
Grant writing is an issue for some small communities and so it might be worth exploring the possibility of holding a rural community grant writing workshop. Also, how could we encourage a partnership between grant writers and local communities?
People would like to see a list of successful collaborative projects on the website that break down the projects into funding resources and what work worked and what didn't work. The Bonneville shoreline project might be a good example of this.
Adus will reach out to six counties folks to see if any are interested in joining our conversation.
The next meeting will be held on Feb 24th at 2:00 pm. Cory and Zach will send out a reminder for this.
