Where to focus?
Need to improve the communication between parks, astronomy clubs, communities, agencies, chambers of commerce, and individual leaders.
Collective input and voluntary initiatives are vital to engaging and involving communities.
Thoughts and Ideas
Much of the successes and failures with community involvement are personality driven. There are examples of this we can draw from.
There needs to be a way to share information better and more efficiently among communities regarding the Colorado Plateau as a night sky destination. Can we do this by better promoting partnerships among NPCS, BLM, other agencies, and communities?
There is county funding for trail access to DINO but the route itself is an issue. There is not a good selection.
Events for the 2016 centennial of the NPS could be a great way to engage people and get the word out about night skies and trails.
Cory R and Cory M will reach out to everyone after the holidays in order to set up the next meeting.
